JM engineers attended the Society of Women Engineers鈥 conference in Indianapolis, an annual conference that offers society members a chance to speak with employers to learn more about their products and potential job opportunities.听
JMers hosted an 鈥渆xhibitor booth鈥 where they spoke with several interested students and practicing engineers about a career in engineering, open internships and entry level engineering positions at JM. The students and engineers were also able to 鈥渆xhibit鈥 a few JM products.听
鈥淭he team talked to many female engineering students 鈥 many of whom expressed interest in our internships,鈥 said Barb Schane, Director of Compensation, Benefits and Talent Management, who organized JM鈥檚 attendance at the event.
鈥淚t was refreshing to interact with young engineers who are excited to be entering the workforce,鈥 said Leah Dougherty, a Senior Commercial Excellence Specialist who worked as a host at the JM booth. 鈥淲e ended up with a great roster of candidates and I鈥檓 really hoping we get a few interns from this! Overall, I鈥檓 in total support of JM鈥檚 initiative to attend the SWE conference 鈥 I think it shows a meaningful commitment from JM to recruit a diverse workforce.鈥
This was JM鈥檚 first year attending the conference. The society鈥檚 annual conference is 鈥渢he largest and most prestigious conference for women in engineering and technology.鈥 Attendees can meet with companies from across the country and learn about job opportunities as well as hear from industry leaders.听
